With M1 Macs mere days away for early adopters, those who need to run virtual machines on their Macs may have a bumpy time ahead. Here’s Nick Dobrovolskiy with Parallels: It is important to note that currently available versions of Parallels® Desktop for Mac cannot run virtual machines on Mac with Apple M1 chip. The parallels beta program is open for people to run parallels on M1 now. Yes, is is legal to run macOS on a VirtualBox — if the virtual box is running on Apple Hardware. Many have run macOS on non-Apple hardware through VirtualBox, but that is not legal. Apple Silicon - VirtualBox Compatibility - IS Track Unfortunately, I cannot run VirtualBox on Macs with Apple’s M1 chip. If this will change in the future is currently unknown but it doesn’t appear very likely as the Oracle has not said anything about it whereas others like VMWare Fusion and Parallels have both had support pledged for them.
